If you prefer to shop and support local, Country Foods IGA has fresh seasonal produce, meats, treats, and much more. Located at 140 S Willow St # A, Kenai, it’s the local grocer for Kenai residents and visitors. The second-generation, Alaskan-owned grocer is headquartered in Kenai and operates three business units. Founded in 1974 by husband and wife team John and Margaret Steinbeck, what began as Foodtown has grown into Kenai’s favorite grocer.

In the 1980s, the couples’ two sons joined the team. Following a massive remodel and a name change, Country Foods affiliated with IGA (a national organization for independent grocers). Since then, Country Foods has enjoyed two expansions and now features a full-service bakery and deli.
