The Haines Skagway Fast Ferry is open May – September. Hop on board a private ferry for the best and fastest way to travel from Haines to Skagway. Driving takes eight hours and requires two border crossings, but on the ferry, you get a small wildlife, scenic cruise with just 45 minutes of travel time. As you pass through Taiya Inlet, keep an eye out for hanging glaciers and incredible granite cliffs. Waterfalls and peaks surround travelers as you’re ferried between the biggest, deepest fjord in North America.

In the waters, salmon, sea lions and seals join you. You might spot a humpback, orca or minke whale, too. Bald eagles perch overhead. Many ferry-goers bring cameras and binoculars for surprise sightings. Cruise ship passengers are frequent guests, but all are welcome aboard. There’s no better way to see Skagway and Haines where the history of the gold rush era took place.
