After a hiatus due to local construction, the famous Soldotna triathlon is back in 2018 and it’ll be better than ever. The first weekend in June marks the return of Tri-the-Kenai with an adult sprint triathlon featuring a 500-yard swim at Skyview Middle School Pool, a 10-mile bike ride along Sterling Highway and Echo Lake Road, and a 5k run on the Tsalteshi Trails.

There’s also the adult intermediate distance triathlon with a 100-yard swim, 20-mile bike ride, and 10k run. Youth events for those ages 6 – 14 include a 100-yard swim, 4k bike ride, and 3k run. Sign up as a team, either adult or youth, with three racers and share the legs of the events for a fun-filled challenge.

All proceeds benefit local charities, and plenty of volunteers are on hand to cheer you on and keep the competitors safe. Usher in summer by enjoying the beauty of Soldotna. Those who are in Soldotna for the first time can join a meetup the Friday before the event to go over the course. The meeting is optional but especially helpful for youth athletes.
