Start aboard the Danny J for the full Halibut Cove Experience! Since 1966, Danny J has served as both a passenger ferry and as a tour boat for residents and visitors to the area. It is a conventional-style fishing boat that sails through the scenic and stunning waters of the Kenai Peninsula and the beautiful waters of Alaska.

The Highlight of the Cruise

The highlighted part when cruising to Halibut Cove is a visit to Gull Island. It is a bird sanctuary and going there takes 20 minutes from Homer. Gull Island is a shelter for nine nesting species of birds. During migration and before and after nesting, you can find many other species of birds here. When you visit, make sure to bring with you your binoculars and cameras because, in addition to the birds, there are sea otters, seals, whales, porpoises waiting for you at Kachemak Bay.
