Warm up with a delicious cup of homemade soup at top-reviewed restaurants around Juneau. The Twisted Fish Company Alaskan Grill at 550 S Franklin St. features Captain Ron’s clam chowder, a house specialty, as well as the hot and sour crab soup with bamboo shoots, lemongrass, Asian vegetables and a light red curry sauce. It pairs well with the burgers, fresh seafood, pasta or a side of garlic bread knots.
Udder Culture, located at 9105 Mendenhall Mall Rd #146, has a different homemade soup each day. It’s also where you can find Frito pie, a soft, hot pretzel, Diane’s homemade chili and stuffed baked potatoes. Their dessert is a local favorite, so save room for the brownie delight smothered in hot fudge or one of the scratch-made muffins.

You’ll find Chan’s Thai Kitchen at 11820 Glacier Hwy. where every soup is made from scratch when you order it. All soups serve 2 – 3 people, including the Tom Yum, a spicy and sour soup with lime leaves, lemongrass and your choice of protein. Try the chicken coconut soup with Thai ginger and coconut milk or the Tom Jeud Woon Sea with long rice noodles, veggies and chicken. Their noodle soup with Thai rice noodles and your choice of protein is another favorite. Others adore the rice soup with a jasmine rice in broth and choice of protein.
You’ll find yourself in the Wild West at Red Dog Saloon as soon as you step through the swinging saloon doors and mosey along a sawdust-covered floor. Located at 278 S Franklin St., the soup changes daily but always goes with the jumbo potato skins with salsa, green onions, guacamole, jalapeños, sour cream, cheese and bacon.
