Popular at Fourth of July celebrations and events throughout the year in Sitka, the New Archangel Dancers have been a staple of the region for nearly 50 years. The group promotes the history and appreciation of Russia in Alaska via folk dances, songs and more. Russian influences were strong during the 18th and 19th century, and the dancers are a big part of preserving this unique cultural exchange.

Especially beloved during the summer months, you can find New Archangel Dancers shows throughout the year. The group has also performed in countries like Mexico, Russia, Japan and Canada, and is dubbed ambassadors for both Sitka and the state.

A One of a Kind Experience

Keep an eye on the dancers’ performance schedule to catch all of their acts. During these 30 minute live shows, audience members are treated to a fusion of cultures and a nod to both Russia and Alaska’s past.

The group is located at 208 Smith Street in the heart of Sitka. Although some performances during the Fourth of July are free to the general public, special events are usually $10 per adult. Comprised of 35 local women, you won’t want to miss any of these exciting performances.
