Open year-round, First Fridays is a monthly event showcasing the local galleries and talent of nearby artists. The free community event is a critical part of Juneau’s thriving arts scene and allows local organizations, businesses and independent artists the opportunity to gather and celebrate creativity. Oftentimes, new gallery installations are featured and you’ll find special discounts and sales. November is the perfect month to check it out as there will be plenty of fantastic gift options featured.
Live music and additional performance events are often scheduled. Support local businesses and artists during your Juneau trip. Events are typically held 4:30 – 7 p.m. in downtown, but individual galleries and businesses may vary.
A Surprise Every Month
There are new businesses and featured performers every month, making each First Friday unique. In the winter months, typical participants include Changing Tides and Trickster Company, along with Annie Kaill’s and the Bustin’ Out Boutique. Nibble on appetizers and enjoy a glass or two of wine while perusing the Alaska Robotics Gallery and Juneau Artist Gallery.
Slip into the Glacier Salt Cave and Spa to see their featured artists, or head to the Sealaska Heritage Institute. The downtown gathering is meant to be walkable, and many restaurants feature special First Friday options.
