Open to the public throughout the month of December from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. most days, the Juneau Holiday Village quickly became a tradition when it started just a few years ago. The mini holiday village is the perfect destination for families looking for carolers, decorations galore and a trip back in time to Christmases of yore. Neighborhood associations, businesses and non-profits rally together to host one of Juneau’s most eclectic and beloved celebrations.
Admission requires a donation to one of four local non-profits. At this event you’ll find seasonal treats, decorations for keepsakes and a variety of locally made gifts for family and friends. Games of I Spy are particularly popular, with daily challenges sending families and kids into a searching frenzy for some of the best pieces of décor at the sprawling Alaska Shirt Co. venue.
The Holidays are Here
Open on both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve, there are storytimes and visits from Santa. Snap a photo with the big guy, and fall in love with a variety of ornaments, garlands and wreaths. Artists from around the state flock to Juneau to show off their goods and help residents and visitors alike get into the Christmas spirit.
The founder of the Holiday Village is committed to a family-friendly event that benefits the community. Have a blast all day exploring the village with the good karma points that come with contributing to area charities. It all starts on Black Friday. What will you discover at the village?
