1. Birch Lake, Fairbanks – You can fish out arctic char, Coho salmon, rainbow trout, and Chinook salmon out of this 800 acre lake! Rent an ice hut right on the ice to complete your trip.

2. Quartz Lake, Fairbanks – You’re sure to come home with a trophy sized trout here, anywhere from 10 to 18 inches!

3. Matanuska Lakes State Recreation Area, Palmer – Known for the “Stillwater Fish Captial of Alaska,” this recreation area is open year round for ice fishing.

4. Nancy Lake State Recreation Area, Palmer – Not only is this lake beautiful during winter time, but an easy spot to catch Pike.

5. Mat-Su Valley Pike Derby, Palmer – A small town named Houston hosts the Pike Derby every weekend in March with prizes for biggest and smallest fish caught.

6. Jewel Lake, Anchorage – A fishermen’s paradise with various kinds of fish to catch from trout to salmon!
