It’s blueberry season, and that means the nearby Alyeska Resort comes to life with fields of juicy berries ripe for the picking. Now in its 11th year, the annual festival pays tribute to Alaska’s favorite berry throughout the month of August. However, August 18 and 19 are when things really heat up with an annual music festival from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. both days—it’s free for the whole family and features plenty of free berry picking.

Taste a variety of blueberry goodies (including wine and beer!) or sign up for the pie eating contest. Discover impressive creations from local and guest chefs, try a funnel cake with a fruity twist, or indulge yourself in an arts and crafts event.

Let Them Eat Pie!

The pie eating contests are everyone’s favorites, with a no-hands rule and separate contests for kids and adults. Climb aboard the chairlift for a free ride up the hill to the best picking spots. (For those who plan to return to Alaska in the winter, save that chair lift for a discount on ski lessons!). On Sunday, you can enter the blueberry creations contest and try your hand at scoring bragging rights.

Inside the resort, the Annual Blueberry Sidewalk Sale gives you a chance to find some one of a kind treasures and gifts. Sunday is the annual 1k and 5k fun run at 10:30 a.m., perfect to work off those pie calories before digging in for more.
