Here is an itinerary of what to do if you only have 48 hours in Alaska.
Day 1 Morning – Wildlife Viewing
You cannot visit Alaska without immersing yourself in the beautiful, untouched nature! There are many wildlife tours to choose from, or just visit the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center to view animals in their natural habitat.
Day 1 Midday – Dog Sledding
Whether you visit in summer or winter, dog sledding tours are offered year round at Salmon Berry. See what this Alaskan tradition is all about – plus you get to pet some adorable pups!
Day 1 Night – Northern Lights
The Northern Lights, another true Alaskan treasure. It is possible to see the light year round but they will be much more visible in winter.
Day 2 Morning – Hike
Hiking in Alaska is a beautiful way to start your day! You can choose to hike alone or with a tour guide. A couple of the best hikes are at Chugach State Park and Eagle River Nature Center.
Day 2 Midday – Find a Glacier
Just a couple hours outside the city, you will find these mighty blocks of ice. The closest one is the Portage Glacier, 50 miles from Anchorage!
Day 2 Night – Check out the Nightlife
Anchorage is the most happenin’ part of Alaska! Check out the heart of the city and maybe even take a brewery tour to taste some of Alaska’s craft brews.
